Green Left Party in Edirne attacked, three people injured

Three people, including candidate Serdal Zımba, were injured in the attack on the stand of the Green Left Party in Edirne.

The Green Left Party continues its election campaign work ahead of the 14 May elections. Racist attacks against the party are being carried out in many cities. The AKP-MHP supporters are targeting Green Left Party members at their election stands. The latest attack happened on Saraçlar Street, one of the busiest streets in Edirne.

Three people, including candidate Serdal Zımba, were injured in the attack.

Zımba and Sara Ay had their arms broken and another party member was injured when the stand was attacked by a group of people.

Five of the attackers were reportedly detained. After the attack, the Green Left Party members were taken to Edirne Provincial Security Directorate for medical examination and statement procedures.

The Green Left Party Edirne Provincial Organization said in a post on its social media account: "We were attacked by a group of fascists even though the police were right next to us at our stand in Edirne. Our candidate and a 60-year-old female friend had their arms broken in two places. We will never take a step back from our stance against oppression."
