Istanbul police has raided the Youth Federation and İdil Cultural Center in the scope of a so-called 'DHKP-C operation” early Thursday. 23 people, including a member of the political music band Grup Yorum, have been taken into custody in the operations.

Police teams threw tear gas in the Youth Federation, starting a fire in the building during the raid at around 6 a.m. this morning. 13 people in the building were assaulted and taken into custody.

Another simultaneous police operation targeted the İdil Cultural Center where ten people, including musicians and theater players, were taken into custody.

Police attacked a group of people who protested against the operation targeting the Youth Federation.

The demonstrators in front of the federation's office, where police search is still continuing, were attacked by police with tear gas when they wanted to walk to the building in protest against the detentions. The group who responded to police attack with stones later marched to the İdil Cultural Center which has also been targeted in the scope of today's operations.
