With the birth of Abdullah Öcalan, the Kurdish people were reborn. That is why every year the Kurdish people flock to the village of Amara to celebrate his birthday on April 4. Saplings are planted in many places around the world and this day is celebrated in a meaningful way. Freedom guerrillas fighting in the mountains of Kurdistan are celebrating Öcalan’s birthday with great enthusiasm and morale. Speaking to ANF, freedom guerrillas Bawer Hebeş and Haşim Havîn expressed their feelings on the occasion of April 4.

Bawer Hebeş: With the birth of Leader Apo [Abdullah Öcalan], the Kurdish people were reborn. This is a fact; before the birth of the Leader, the Kurdish people were about to disappear. But when he was born like the sun on the soil of Kurdistan, the Kurdish people were reborn. Now the dark days for the Kurdish people are over and the way to a free future has been opened. Today, millions of freedom supporters are fighting for freedom around the paradigm of the Leader. This shows that oppressed peoples find their existence in the existence of Leader Apo.

With his call for Peace and Democratic Society, Leader Apo has presented us with a new paradigm so that we can increase our struggle for freedom. The Leader sacrificed his entire life for the Kurdish people to have rights. The Kurdish people used to be ignored, but today they are in a strategic position thanks to Leader Apo. There was a system where women were ignored, and their rights were taken away. But Leader Apo introduced a new paradigm on the basis of women's freedom and this became a new hope for oppressed women. As Leader Apo's militants, we want to develop ourselves in the line of free women. On this basis, once again, happy April 4 to all peoples in favor of freedom.

Haşîm Havîn: The birth of the Leader enabled the oppressed society to recognize itself. A society that was deprived of its rights to freedom regained hope with the existence of Leader Apo. For this reason, we see April 4 as a day of resurrection, not just the birth of the Leader. It is not right to consider this day as the birthday of only one person; it is the birthday of millions. The hope created by the Leader is revived in every progress. The clearest example is the women's struggle. In the past, women used to be ignored in society. But Leader Apo made women the vanguard of society and today women have become the measure of freedom for humanity.

The existence of the Leader is a great chance for humanity. For this reason, we must stand up for Leader Apo with all our means. To understand Leader Apo correctly, we must take the line of Comrade Zîlan as a basis. Comrade Zîlan understood the Leader the best. Her action opened the path of struggle for us. As Kurdistan freedom guerrillas, we will follow in the footsteps of Comrade Zîlan until the end. We will make Leader Apo's birthday a day of freedom for oppressed peoples. Once again, we wish a happy April 4 to all oppressed peoples and believe that we will crown the path to victory with a free Leader.
