Speaking at the 'Social Peace and Freedom Meeting', DEM Party Group Deputy Chair Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit said, “To achieve a solution, you must first eliminate the causes of the problem."
The Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) commenced the “Social Peace and Freedom Meetings” where the messages sent by Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan during his recent meetings with the DEM Party İmralı Delegation will be discussed in various cities.

Many people attended the meeting held at the DEM Party's Ağrı Provincial Organization on Saturday.
Speaking here, DEM Party Group Deputy Chairperson Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit stated that the biggest fear of the AKP is the status of North-East Syria. She said, “Every day someone from Turkey goes to Syria to prevent the Kurds' status from becoming official. They are doing everything to prevent the Kurds from even having a name.”
The DEM Party politician continued: “On the one hand, they are trying to leave the Kurdish people without status in Syria, on the other hand, talks are being initiated inside the country. We advocate the latter for the achievement of a democratic solution. We resisted a lot so that what was said would not remain in words, but at the end of the day we saw that it did not go very far. Mr. Öcalan said in a message through his nephew Ömer Öcalan on October 1 that the isolation continued. Mr. Öcalan gave the message that he has the theoretical power to resolve this issue.”
Remarking that the PKK is not the cause of the Kurdish question, but the result of it, Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit addressed the government and said: ”If you want the Kurdish question resolved, you must first eliminate the causes of this problem. You cannot link Turkey's most deep-rooted problem to a single issue. If you manipulate the results without removing the causes, you cannot achieve an honorable peace and a lasting solution. We don't want the emergence of a situation in which one takes a step when they feel like it and just quits when they don’t. To make sure that this does not happen, the talks must be brought to Parliament.”

The DEM Party also organized a public meeting in Antep within the scope of “Social Peace and Freedom Meetings”. DEM Party Labor Commission Co-Spokesperson Mehmet Bozgeyik and many people attended the public meeting at the provincial organization.
Mehmet Bozgeyik spoke about the purpose of the “Social Peace and Freedom Meetings” and highlighted the importance of these meetings for the socialization of peace.
