Hannover march for Öcalan concluded with a rally

The three-day march protesting the international conspiracy against Öcalan has been concluded with a rally in Hannover, Germany.

Kurds and their friends have staged a three-day march in the German city of Hannover in protest at the international conspiracy that resulted in the capture of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan on 15 February 1999 when he was handed over to Turkey where he has been held in solitary confinement since.

The march had kicked off from the town of Langenhagen on Saturday. The third stage of the march on Monday began with the reading of the police conditions for the demonstration. Yesterday the police confiscated the front banner because it showed the portrait of Abdullah Öcalan. The banner referred to the prohibition of torture laid down in the European Convention on Human Rights.

The long march has ended with a rally in front of the Lower Saxony state parliament where speeches were made and an appointment was got from the parliament to submit a dossier prepared by the activists.

During the demonstration here, German police took four people into custody on the grounds of the slogan “Bijî Serok Apo” [Long Live Leader Öcalan].
