HBDH: Election results won’t stop the downfall of AKP-MHP fascism

The Peoples’ United Revolutionary Movement (HBDH) Executive Committee has stated that the results of the June 24 elections won’t stop the downfall of the AKP-MHP fascism.

Peoples’ United Revolutionary Movement (Halkların Birleşik Devrim Hareketi - HBDH) Executive Committee has issued a written statement on the Presidential and Parliamentary elections of June 24 and said the elections are not legitimate under the fascist oppression and added that the struggle should not be limited to the parliament.

The HBDH statement is as follows: “The June 24 elections were held under the shadow of the AKP-MHP fascist alliance’s policies of war. The invasion of Afrin and the consequent war in Southern Kurdistan was implemented as a policy to weaken the front of the oppressed via increasing chauvinism before the elections.

The fascist government has held snap elections with the aim to make Erdoğan the President, and to push the HDP out of the parliament.

But despite all obstacles, arrests and oppression, the HDP has won 12% of the vote and overcome the election threshold. In this sense, the HDP’s success disrupted the AKP-MHP alliance’s plans to win 400 seats. The HDP, the joint alliance of the Kurdish people and the socialists, has been the only option for the working class and the oppressed against the AKP-MHP fascist alliance and the CHP-IYI Party-Felicity Party alliance by the parties of the current order.

HDP’S SUCCESS

HDP overcoming the threshold is the success of forces who resist fascism. The forces of labor, democracy and freedom united in the HDP have overcome the election threshold, despite all obstacles posed by fascism.

In terms of election results, the AKP-MHP alliance who wanted to push the HDP below the threshold and win parliamentary majority have failed against the joint struggle of Turkey’s working classes and the oppressed, try as they might.

ELECTIONS ARE NOT LEGITIMATE

The HDP has overcome fascism’s threshold for the third time in a row, and won 67 seats. From now on, the forces of labor, democracy and freedom need to continue their fight without a stop.

Erdoğan was elected President in the first round of the June 24 elections. The election was held under the shadow of arrests and oppression. It was an illegitimate election held by the AKP-MHP fascist alliance using all resources of the state.

THE DOWNFALL CAN’T BE STOPPED

In terms of the results, the elections can’t stop the downfall of the AKP-MHP fascism. In the balcony speech Erdoğan gave after the elections, he declared that he will continue the policies of war against the Kurdish people and revolutionary forces. He stressed that he will continue the policies of war and attacks against the working class and the oppressed.

THE STRUGGLE SHOULDN’T BE LIMITED TO THE PARLIAMENT

At this point, the election success of the HDP should not cause complacency among the masses. The masses should not follow a policy that is in a defensive position against the fascist state, like after the June 7 elections. Forces of labor, democracy and freedom should increase the struggle on the streets against fascism and not limit themselves to the parliamentary struggle.

REVOLUTIONARY FORCES SHOULD INCREASE THE STRUGGLE

Against the fascist regime, the struggle in the parliament can only be one of the fronts. Fascism can only be defeated through the united revolutionary struggle. Thus, the positions gained by democratic politics are meaningful in terms of revolutionary politics expanding its area of legitimacy. The only force that can defeat fascism is the united revolutionary war practice led by the Peoples’ United Revolutionary Movement. Constituents of the HBDH and all revolutionary forces should increase the struggle against fascism and organize themselves in accordance with the historic responsibility on this basis.

THE HISTORIC RESPONSIBILITY

Our peoples should know this fact well: Our most fundamental duty in the face of the fascist regime is to win the working class and the oppressed over for the revolutionary struggle. Faced with the fascist regime that fortified itself on June 24 using all resources of the state, it is our fundamental duty to increase the revolutionary war in cities and in the mountains.

Today fascism has turned the country into a prison of peoples for workers, the youth, women and all the oppressed. The duty on our shoulders is to increase the revolutionary war to tear down the walls of the prison and liberate our peoples.

It is time to increase the fight for freedom in the streets and in the mountains, to build the barricades in the factories, schools and streets, to win the masses against fascism over to the revolutionary war. Today our historic responsibility is to increase the struggle in all areas and to win the masses over to our revolutionary struggle. Conscious of this historic responsibility, we are calling on all peoples to grow the revolutionary struggle shoulder to shoulder against fascism.”
