HDK delegation on tour to Black Sea Region

A delegation of the People's Democratic Congress (HDK) has started a tour in the Black Sea region for the purpose of informing the public about the peace process and democratic solution to the Kurdish question.

The delegation consists of deputies Sebahat Tuncel, Ertuğrul Kürkçü and Levent Tüzel, HDK Executive Board members Gülistan Aydoğdu, Alp Altınörs and Hatice Altınışık, as well as HDP (People's Democratic Party) co-chair Fatma Gök, HDP Party Council member Hüseyin Taka who will be visiting the provinces in the region till 22 February.

Paying the first visit to the province of Çorum, where they were met with carnations, the delegation visited the governor of Çorum, Sabri Başköy, early Sunday morning. Speaking after the visit to the governor, BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) Mersin deputy Ertuğrul Kürkçü said that the meeting was positive.

The delegation visited the EMEP (Labor Party) Çorum organization and Haci Bektaşi Veli Cultural Association today when they will attend a public meeting in the evening.

Speaking at a press conference after the visits, Istanbul independent deputy and HDK executive board member Levent Yüksel said that their visit would make a contribution to peace, brotherhood and a democratic future in Turkey. Tüzel said that they would be meeting the representatives of public organizations in Çorum.

Speaking after, BDP Istanbul deputy and HDK executive board member Sebahat Tuncel said that “We are here to discuss the current process, which the Prime Minister described as 'solution process', with the people in the Black Sea Region. Denial is the basic cause of the Kurdish question as there is no problem between peoples, there is a problem of governance”.

BDP MP Kürkçü said everyone in Turkey wanted to build a free, pluralist and libertarian life, adding; “This is a project led by all those who seek freedom. Just like you are hosting us today, HDK is a house for the people of Black Sea Region as well.
