HDK members in Belgium organised an activity in front of the Turkish Embassy in Brussels, to protest the Turkish state for spreading wildfires in Dersim.
Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK) members in Belgium gathered in front of the Turkish Embassy in Brussels, and protested the Turkish state for causing and spreading wildfires in Dersim, chanting slogans as "Erdoğan burns Dersim", "Murderer Erdoğan, leave Kurdistan" and "End the Ecocide".
Leaflets informing on the policies of burned lands and destruction pursued by the Turkish state in Kurdistan, which peaks in the region of Dersim, were distributed by the activists to the passers-by.
HDK-Belgium members stated that the burning down of forested lands in Dersim and Cudi, and the demolition in Hasankeyf are clearly a part of the Turkish state's genocidal policies against the geography and nature of Kurdistan.
The demonstrators stressed the Turkish state's intention to depopulate Dersim by the construction of hydroelectric power plants (HES) on Munzur River under security pretext along with forced evacuations of villages, and called on the state to end the military operations.
The activity ended with chants of the slogan "Dersim is our honor, take your hands off our honor".
