Members of the People’s Democratic Congress (HDK) Ankara County Council set up a ‘Peace Tent’ in the capital city Ankara in the scope of the events for September 1 World Peace Day.
The Peace Tent on the main Konur Street will remain open for two days to call for participation in the September 1 rally in Kadýköy, Istanbul. The rally in Istanbul, leaded by the HDK, will be joined by KESK Istanbul Branches Platform, TMMOB (Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects), Turkish Medical Association, Human Rights Associaton (IHD), Freedom and Solidarity Party (ÖDP), Halkevleri, Turkish Communist Party (TKP), Association of International Workers’ Soldarity (UÝD-DER), various social circles, women, students and young people.
Speaking here, Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Muþ MP Demir Çelik pointed out that Turkey is rapidly and worrisomely being dragged into war, underlining that the ongoing clashes and deaths in the country point to the fact that the AKP government is extorting the life, future and freedoms of peoples by means of its war policies.
Çelik called attention to the severe isolation on Kurdish leader Öcalan and noted that the AKP government
doesn’t intend to follow the way of a solution to the Kurdish issue for it has been directly targeting the Kurdish people and their party BDP since it came to power.
BDP deputy called on all peoples in Turkey to take to streets on the International Day of Peace to demand an end to the ongoing war in the country.
