HDP administrators released from custody detained once again

AKP/Palace regime continues its practices of political genocide against the Kurdish people and HDP (Peoples' Democratic Party) that it cannot cow into submission.

Six HDP administrators who were detained and released before have been taken into custody once again. On the other hand, those detained in İzmir faced weird accusations.

MANİSA

Six HDP administrators in the districts of Manisa who had been detained on December 12, 2006 and released on January 9, were taken into custody once again last night.

The politicians who were detained during house raids by police forces upon the prosecutor's objection, and who were taken to Manisa provincial police directorate are:

HDP Salihli district co-chair Abdulkadir Murg,

HDP Akhisar district co-chair Sıddık Bülbül,

HDP Gölmarmara district co-chair Tarık Şahin,

HDP Sarıgöl district co-chair Abdulhamit Kozcan,

HDP Alaşehir district co-chair Muzaffer Genç and

HDP Yunus Emre district co-chair Rahmettullah Yapıl.

İZMİR

BES (Union of Office Workers) members working at İzmir Courthouse who had been detained for alleged links to the recent bombing at the court have been accused of recruitment for Turkey People's Liberation Party-Front (THKP-C) and Turkey People's Liberation Army (THKO) that ended their activities years ago.

The detainees were released on giving their statements after 5 days in custody when they were denied access to their lawyers. According to testimonies, these six people had nothing to do with the bombing.

BES İzmir Branch Chair Musa Sever condemned the detainment of their members, saying it was an 'arbitrary' act.
