HDP Amed MP Paylan: We need to stand shoulder to shoulder

HDP Amed MP Garo Paylan, said he expected more reaction from the people of Turkey against the injustice imposed to the municipalities saying: "We need to stand shoulder to shoulder and side by side."

HDP Amed MP Garo Paylan said that showing enough courage to "protect the usurped HDP municipalities of Amed, Van and Mardin, Istanbul and Ankara will not be lost. Today, saving Amed, Van and Mardin - he added - will dissipate the current climate of fear."

The Democracy Vigil lunched by the people against the decision by the AKP-MHP government to imposed trustees to the three HDP-run metropolitan municipalities, has reached day 20.

HDP people in Amed, Van and Mardin, who are in areas every day, will continue to resist until the trustees leave.

Amed HDP MP Garo Paylan said he that reaction against this injustice was not enough in Turkey.

Paylan said that the prejudice campaign carried out by the AKP against the HDP municipal co-mayors was based on false separatism accusations.

"They're spreading lies and slanders about sending money to the mountain. - said Paylan - But these lies have short legs. The people of western Turkey is aware that a great injustice has taken place. The voters clearly demonstrated their stance in Ankara, Istanbul, Adana, Mersin and Izmir. Despite Erdoğan hostile policies, the voters stood together."

'If we save Amed, we will not lose Istanbul'

Paylan pointed out that all peoples stand together against Erdoğan's autocratic attitude and added: "They united against Erdoğan and he lost. Erdoğan now attacked Amed, Van and Mardin. The people in western Turkey should show more solidarity with these three cities.

We make this call and try to encourage it. Fortunately, some of our CHP friends are standing beside us. The position of Canan Kaftancıoğlu, Istanbul Province co-chair, Ali Şeker and a few other dear CHP friends is valuable.

The CHP should show the same courage as an institution. If we show this courage now, we will not lose Istanbul and Ankara. Saving Amed, Van and Mardin today will dispel this climate of fear. We need to be shoulder to shoulder and side by side. We urge everyone who believes in democracy to take their responsibility."
