In a written statement on Thursday, HDP co-chairs and Green Left Party co-spokespersons said: "We are welcoming Ramadan Feast this year amid great suffering, grave crises, hunger and poverty in the country on the one hand, and growing hopes for a democratic change and transformation on the other hand. There is endless mourning as well as euphoria and eternal holiday. We commemorate tens of thousands of people who were killed by the earthquakes. We must introduce a real change as a requirement of the promise we made to them and the commitment to their memories. Now, it is time to unite and to hug each other against the walls that divide us. We will heal our wounds together, and we will grow hope and enthusiasm together.
As we welcome the Ramadan Feast, we call on all our people to increase the solidarity that has emerged following the earthquakes for a real political change and transformation on May 14 despite the government. We can recreate our lives equally and freely. We can make the May 14 elections a permanent holiday for this land and our people.
Once again, we celebrate Ramadan Feast. We hope that it will lead to peace, brotherhood, equality and freedom. We are certain that we will turn this holiday into a double holiday on May 14."
