Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Batman MP Ayşe Acar Başaran was taken into custody by police at the guesthouse of the Eğitim-Sen Union in Ankara this morning.

Police said there was a “forced court appearance” order for Başaran and took her to Ankara police directorate, from which she was referred to Ankara Courthouse to give her statement.

Başaran was reportedly detained within the scope of an investigation launched against her for joining a 'human shield action' against continued clashes in Batman's Sason district in September, 2015.
