The Fast of December (Êzî) is one of the traditions of the Yazidi people.

HDP Batman Deputy Feleknas Uca held a press conference on the eve of the Êzî feast.

"I congratulate the ancient Yazidi people who have been subjected to exiles and massacres throughout history and wish their fasting to be accepted."

Uca said: "The Yazidi people have been massacred for 73 times because of their Kurdish language, culture, identity, and because of the belief. On 3 August 2014, thousands of Yazidi were massacred in Shengal by ISIS mercenaries who also kidnapped thousands of women and children whose fate is still unknown."

Saying that Yazidi women kidnapped by ISIS were sold in slaves markets through the office established in Antep in 2016, Uca added: "Despite the evidences found, the people put on trial was acquitted."

Despite the massacres, the Yazidi people have managed to build a new life in Shengal, said Uca. 

"ISIS brutal mercenaries, which are settled in Kurdish provinces, continue to commit crimes against humanity. The Kurds, the Yazidi and all other peoples in the occupied Rojava are now struggling to survive."

Uca reminded that in North Kurdistan, Yazidi properties were seized and that the Yazidi who wanted to take their land back were attacked.
