Speaking at the HDP (Peoples' Democratic Party) Siirt Province congress, HDP deputy Meral Danış Beştaş stated that they trust their strength.  "We are ready for local elections. - said the Siirt MP - We will demonstrate that we will not surrender to this fascism by going around every village and carry out our work".

HDP Siirt Deputies Meral Danış Beştaş and Mehmet Sıddık Taş, as well as HDP PM members Hürriyet Kaytan and Ali Aslan, party members and Peace Mothers, all joined the party congress in Siirt. 

HDP deputy Mehmet Sıddık Taş said that the will of the people prevailed despite all difficulties. 

“There is today a chaotic situation in Turkey. - he said - If we prepare ourselves for this process, we can fight against this regime. Kurds have no place in this regime and they do not leave us any room or place to actually exercise the role of the opposition. The AKP government, in fact, leaves room to nobody”.

HDP Siirt MP Meral Danış Beştaş underlined the HDP success in the 24 June elections despite all the pressures. 

“In a country governed by democracy it is impossible to think of the absence of the will of the people. We know the crimes that the AKP has committed against the people and we will hold them accountable in front of the law".

HDP Beştaş was interrupted many times when conveying the greetings of HDP Hakkari deputy Leyla Güven, who is still in prison. 

Beştaş reminded the congress that Leyla Güven was the elected parliamentarian by the will of the people, yet she remains in prison. And many like her are still in jail, starting with HDP presidential candidate Selahattin Demirtaş and HDP former co-chair, Figen Yüksekdağ. 

"Demirtaş - said the HDP Siirt MP - was not released and enabled to run his election campaign because Erdogan's mask would have fallen”.

Beştaş continued: “Soon, in 2019, there will be local elections. Siirt is a very important province. We will be ready to give Siirt the government it deserves”.

HDP provincial congress ended with the elections of HDP Siirt Province Co-Presidency, Serdar Batur and Ayşe Ekinci were elected.
