HDP's Buldan: Kurds will not forget

HDP co-chair told people in Iğdır that 24 June is the day for change.

HDP co-chair, Pervin Buldan, was in Iğdır on Saturday as part of the elections campaign.

Buldan presented the party’s candidates Habib Eksik and Kıznaz Türkeli to the thousands of people who joined the meeting.

Addressing the crowd, Buldan said: “Today we are not making a rally, we are only having a meeting. Yet, thousands of people gathered here showed that we will enter the Parliament from Iğdır on June 24. This enthusiasm, this determination prove this”.

Buldan said that the “HDP today represents a hope for Turkey”. The HDP co-chair insisted on her party’s “work for peace, brotherhood, freedom, democracy. They can imprison us, they can attack us, but they cannot silence us”.

Buldan recalled how “during the 16-year rule of the AKP, there was not a single person who didn’t suffer bullying in this country. Iğdır is a city where this bullying has taken place”.

The people of Iğdır have faced great difficulties, poverty and crisis and Buldan underlined that “in the past there were 4 thousand trucks crossing the border, while today they are only 400. When we asked 'why did you close down the border gate’, we are told ‘we have our political relations'. Your political relations prevent the Iğdır people from living for 1 month. You have played with the lives of the laborers in Iğdır for your own benefit, this is the truth”.

Reminding that the elections on 24 June provide “an opportunity to finally get rid of this regime”, Buldan added: “No presidential candidate is running his campaign from prison, yet our candidate, Demirtaş is. His detention is illegal. But the AKP regime is afraid of his words”.

Ending her speech, Buldan recalled the massacres the Kurdish people has been forced to live and said that “Kurds will not forget. Kurds will decide on 24 June who they want to see in Parliament”.
