HDP (Peoples' Democratic Party) has gathered for a situation assessment after the adoption of the “coup” proposal introduced by the AKP and approved by the CHP and MHP on the basis of an anti-Kurdish alliance. The development came after two rounds of voting on the articles in the Constitutional amendment proposal to lift parliamentary immunities earlier today.
The HDP group presided by co-chairs Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ will make an evaluation of the “coup” proposal.
HDP will also gather with its Party Assembly and Central Executive Board at the weekend to determine the policy the party will pursue from now on after the approval of the proposal.
HDP Spokesperson Ayhan Bilgen said the coup for the removal of immunities had no legitimacy to them, and called for struggle with the spirit of mobilization.
Speaking to ANF, Bilgen stressed that popular opposition should manifest a will in a stronger and more effective manner in consideration of the bare reality in Ankara. Bilgen noted that the development will also create a debate within the CHP that has been divided into two parts during the voting.
Bilgen pointed out that; "This picture reveals the intolerance, and the fact that our efforts to achieve a solution through politics means nothing to the AKPK, CHP and MHP. Still, the parliament is not the only place to step up the democratic politics."
HDP Spokesperson Bilgen called upon the society of Turkey and North Kurdistan to give a struggle with the spirit of mobilization.
