HDP co-chair Demirtaş summoned to testify again

HDP Co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş was summoned to testify by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office with allegations of “Disparaging the state of the Republic of Turkey, state institutions and organs”.

The investigations on MPs, especially HDP MPs, continue after the law proposing a constitutional amendment to lift the immunity of members of parliament went into effect following its publication in the Official Journal.

In the latest installment of related events, the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has issued an invitation to HDP Co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş to get his statement for the ongoing investigation of “disparaging the state of the Republic of Turkey, state institutions and organs”.

The Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office had issued invitations for Selahattin Demirtaş, HDP Group Deputy Chair Çağlar Demirel and HDP MPs Nursel Aydoğan and Sibel Yiğitalp with allegations of “membership to a terrorist organisation” to get their statements for their ongoing investigations.

Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office Regulations Bureau had called HDP Co-chairs Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ in for statements on allegations of “insult” and “terrorist propaganda”.
