HDP co-chair visits Van Bar on second day of Democracy March

The 'Democracy March’ launched by the HDP from Edirne and Hakkari continues in Van and Istanbul.

Within the scope of today's program, HDP co-chair Mithat Sancar visited Van Bar. Sancar was accompanied by HDP Spokesperson Ebru Günay, co-chair of Law and Human Rights Commission Ümit Dede and Van Deputy Murat Sarısaç as well as a number of other HDP executives. The delegation was welcomed by the President of the Van Bar Association, Zülküf Uçar and board members.

Sancar told Bar members: "In some places, obstacles can reach a bit more annoying and unpleasant dimensions. But I would like to remind you again that the HDP is determined to use the democratic legitimate ground for its demands.”

Sancar added: “Our march is a call to solve the problems of justice, peace and democracy all together. We planned this march by paying attention to public health due to pandemic situation we are all experiencing. The important thing here is to meet our people’s hearts.”

Sancar reminded that there are two lawyers on death fast and said: “The demand for a fair trial made by lawyers Ebru Timtik and Aytaç Ünsal, who are on death fast, should be answered.”

'Torture has increased'

Sancar also underlined that “recently, human rights violations, and particularly the cases of torture have increased. It's a very, very heavy situation. The governments, which consider human rights violations as an opportunity to sustain their own existence, do not realize that they are actually falling into a big trap.”
