The Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) is holding its third congress in Ankara today. The congress hall has been completely filled and in front of the building are still thousands of people calling "Bijî Serok Apo" and "Long live the resistance in Afrin".

Police threaten to intervene if "illegal" slogans continue to be chanted. The repressive action of the security forces also hits the press representatives who are not allowed to take their laptops into the hall.

Numerous overseas and Southern Kurdish observers are attending the congress, including MEPs Gabi Zimmer and Martina Michels, and other politicians from Ireland, the Basque Country, Lebanon, France, Norway, Portugal, Cyprus, Greece, Palestine and Germany.
