HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) Council member Arife Çınar, who was taken into custody while canvassing in Menemen district of İzmir on Wednesday, was referred to the judiciary on Thuesday.

Çınar was arrested on charges of "being a member of the organization" and "making propaganda for the organization". The charges referred to an investigation opened by the Istanbul Public Prosecutor's Office in 2012.

Çınar was sent to İzmir Şakran Women Closed Prison.
