A delegation from the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) is holding talks with the German federal government and political parties in Berlin. This morning, a meeting with the SPD leader Andrea Nahles took place in the Bundestag (German Parliament), in which the current political developments in Turkey and Kurdistan were discussed.
In addition to party leader Pervin Buldan, the HDP delegation included MP Feleknas Uca, former MP Faysal Sariyildiz, former mayor of Cizre, Leyla Imret, and European representative Faruk Doru.
While no press release took place after the visit, the HDP delegation has reportedly told the SPD leader about the hunger strike actions against the isolation of Abdullah Öcalan and latest political developments.
In addition, Turkish Supreme Electoral Board’s election for repetition of the local elections in Istanbul was also discussed.
Meeting with the Left and the Greens
Further talks will take place today with Left Party Chairman Berndt Riexinger and Vice-Chairman of Alliance 90 / The Greens, Jamila Schäfer.
At 6 pm an event is planned at NAV-DEM Berlin. The HDP delegation will also visit the Kurdish activists Mele Mustafa Tuzak, Şiyar Xelil, Cemal Kobanê and Ömer Bağdur, who are on a hunger strike in the German capital demanding the end of the isolation of Öcalan.
The talks of the HDP delegation in Berlin will continue tomorrow. One of the plans is a meeting with Niels Annen, Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office.
