HDP Law and Human Rights Commission spokesperson and Batman MP Ayse Acar Başaran, issued a statement on the political genocide operations.

Başaran said in a written statement: "Political genocide operations continue throughout Human Rights Week."

The HDP deputy added: "In Mardin on Wednesday morning, 12 people including HDP Provincial co-chair, head of Medical Chamber, SES former branch manager and DTK politicians were taken into custody."

Başaran continued: "The governor's office prepared various statements targeting these constitutional and legal institutions. DTK, one of these institutions, is a legal entity established in accordance with the procedures and principles dictated by law and still continuing its activities.
Under the oppressive regime of AKP / MHP, thousands of HDP and DTK employees, members and managers have been detained, arrested and targeted by the AKP media since 2015."

Başaran said that arrests are the product of an intimidation policy and added: "We will not step back."
