HDP deputy Taşdemir: Trustees are an attack to democracy

Taşdemir underlined that the AKP, in terms of domestic politics, has suffered two consecutive defeats in the 21 March and 23 June elections, and it's now trying to implement its chauvinist policies to deepen them.

HDP Ağrı Deputy Dilan Dirayet Taşdemir said that the appointment of trustees to three metropolitan municipalities interfered with the people's demand for democracy and their will to live together.

Pointing out that the AKP, which is heading towards a collapse in both foreign and domestic politics, tries to stop his decline by attacking the Kurds and their achievements, HDP deputy Taşdemir stressed that today is the day to reclaim democracy.

The HDP Ağrı MP talked to ANF about the appointment of trustees to the metropolitan municipalities of Amed, Van and Mardin.

Taşdemir said that Turkey's domestic and foreign policy and the seizure of the municipalities has a connection. She reminded that the ruling power in Syria was not able to do what it had planned and therefore is now trying to cover its losses in a different way, always based on hostility towards Kurds.

Taşdemir underlined that the AKP, in terms of domestic politics, has suffered two consecutive defeats in the 21 March and 23 June elections, and it's now trying to implement its chauvinist policies to deepen them.

LOCAL ELECTIONS, A TURNING POINT

Stating that local elections are a turning point in this sense, Taşdemir reminded as they showed the AKP-MHP alliance that people are tired of both the economic crisis and its plundering, robbery and the policies that only strengthened its own front.

Taşdemir said that the government, aware of the imminent defeat, as the beginning of the collapse, took revenge on the strategy followed by the HDP in the elections and attacked the Kurds and their achievements, trying to revert its decline.

AN ENEMY OF WOMEN

Taşdemir stressed that the criminalization of the co-presidency system was in reality a cover for the AKP's 18-year misogynist policies.

Taşdemir stated that women's struggle and solidarity have a perspective of social transformation based on freedom and that the regime sees this perspective as a danger.

Taşdemir pointed out that the policies of the government aimed at usurping the gains of women, return women to male violence, oppression and death. That's why, she said, they are trying to criminalize the co-presidency system.

THE AKP THREATS WILL COME TO NOTHING

Taşdemir also evaluated the threat of the closure of the HDP, recently being repeated and said it is necessary to be prepared for everything in a place where the law does not work.

This threat to the Kurdish people, and oppressed people of Turkey, she added, have to do with the danger Kurds represent for the AKP as they talked politics, democracy, and this is an anathema for the AKP. Yet, the MP said, all this threats will come to nothing.

Taşdemir recalled that in his last message, Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan underlined this state of things. "Mr. Öcalan - she said - has been working for a democratic solution to the Kurdish problem in Imralı Prison for 20 years. However, at this point, it is possible to say that the mientality, which provoked the Turkish-Kurdish war, tries to suppress all the democratic demands of the Kurds and has been going on for 100 years. As a matter of fact, the appointment of trustees to the municipalities - she added - is an expression of how far the state's mind is from rationality and how it approaches the Kurdish issue on an illegitimate basis. Therefore, we can say that the trustees appointment is the answer to the proposal coming from Imralı."
