HDP holds preliminary elections to select candidates

Preliminary elections ensure candidates are the true expression of party delegates.

The HDP has set up polling stations in particular in Amed, Dersim and Şırnak to select candidates for the forthcoming local elections.

Amed Provincial Organization made preliminary elections to determine the candidates of 7 districts, 4 of which in the city center.

In order to determine Bağlar district candidate, a polling station was set up in the Vedat Aydın Conference Hall in the province building.

There are 12 women competing in these preliminary internal elections to which  514 delegates are called to vote.

In Sur, Kayapinar, Yenisehir, Silvan, Bismil and Lice, hundreds of delegates will determine the candidates by preliminary voting.

The voting process ended at 5 pm and the votes are being counted.

The selected candidates will run as HDP co-chairs in the March 31st local elections.

Candidates for the districts of Dicle, Eğil, Çüngüş, Hani, Hazro, Kocaköy, Çınar, Ergani, Kulp and Çermik will be determined by the provincial organization and the headquarters of the party.

According to the information received by the HDP, the other districts will also select their candidates in preliminary election.

HDP Batman Provincial Organization made a preliminary election in the Conference Hall of the Petrol-İş Batman Branch in order to determine the co-presidential candidates for the March 31st local elections.

Batman, Beşiri, Gercüş, Hasankeyf, Kozluk and Sason municipal co-chair candidates introduced themselves and then delegates casted their vote.

A similar election was made to select candidates to the co-chair position in Dersim Municipality.

HDP party council member, Cevdet Konak, Health and Social Workers Union (SES) Dersim Branch President Nurşat Yeşil, Human Rights Association (İHD) Dersim Branch President Gürbüz Solmaz, HDP Dersim executive Cemile Ataş, Alaaddin Erdoğan and Ferhat Yıldız introduced themselves to delegates who then casted their vote.

Likewise, HDP Şırnak Provincial Organization organised preliminary elections to determine candidates in Idil, Cizre and Silopi districts.

In these districts a large number of people, including families of those who lost their lives due to state terror during the curfews, participated and casted their vote.
