HDP: Isolation of Öcalan must end immediately

HDP objected to the aggravated isolation of Abdullah Öcalan and stated that the process of resolution has been seriously damaged by the isolation on Mr. Öcalan since April 5, 2015 and the sacrifice of the process during election campaigns.

HDP (Peoples' Democratic Party) Central Executive Committee has released a statement regarding the outcomes of the meeting on July 13.

HDP objected to the aggravated isolation of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan and stated that the solution process has been seriously damaged by the isolation on Mr. Öcalan since April 5, 2015 and the sacrifice of the process during election campaigns.

HDP warned AKP to not target the gains in Rojava, to stop the construction of guard posts and dams for military purposes and to end provocations such as the one in Ardahan. HDP also called on all members of the society to be sensitive on this issue.

CALL TO THE STATE TO END ISOLATION POLICIES

In its statement, HDP assured the public that it would play its role for the restart of the process of resolution, and called on the state to end its isolation policies, activate the observers’ committee, begin the negotiations and take the necessary steps to reach a consolidated ceasefire and a permanent peace.

WARNING TO THE GOVERNMENT

HDP described the state’s military deployment on the Syrian border as an initiative to destroy the gains of the Rojava revolution, and said that the state was planning to intervene in Syria as opposed to ISIS. HDP called upon the governments to drop its dangerous plans, end the military deployment, end its military operations and attacks across Turkey, and bring the perpetrators of massacres such as the one in Ardahan to justice. HDP also called on the government to stop its guard post and dam constructions for military purposes, since these constructions damage the peace process.

HDP invited all members of the society to be sensitive for peace and said that it would fully participate in ‘Peace Bloc’ activities as well as organizing a series of democratic events in order to resist war and interventions in Syria.

HDP called on everyone to resist and stop HES and ‘green road’ constructions across Turkey, particularly in the Black Sea region, due to the destructive environmental impact of these projects.

'WE ARE READY FOR EARLY ELECTIONS'

HDP stated that work life shaped by subcontracting continues to kill workers and restated its commitment to intensify its political efforts and bring subcontracting to an end.

HDP emphasized the framework of ‘Democracy, Justice and Peace’ as the principles that would guide its coalition meetings, and said that all of its branches were ready for early elections if coalition negotiations were to fail.

The party ended its statement by saying that it would be organizing a series of local conferences and peoples’ meetings before the Ordinary General Congress that will be held in the second half of October.
