The HDP issued a statement to mark 1 November, World Kobanê Day.

The statement said: "The century we live in is witnessing authoritarian and aggressive government models, barbaric attacks against human values. On the other hand, epic resistance and new life models that herald the liberation of humanity.

These lands are home to all of these uninterrupted and intertwined developments. The character of the new century is taking shape in the Middle East, the struggle between freedom and slavery, democracy and dictatorship continues."

The statement added: "In the 21st century, with the support of international and regional powers, ISIS, which has plagued peoples, has committed the greatest brutality and crimes against humanity that history has ever seen. People's hopes of life and dreams of freedom were tried to be destroyed. However, the epic resistance and victory against ISIS in Kobanê 8 years ago proved that the peoples will never give up their freedom and will never accept slavery.” The great resistance that took place in Kobanê for 133 days against ISIS went down in history as a women's resistance that took place in the name of human values, said the statement adding that “today, Jin, Jiyan and Azadi, the slogan created by the Kurdish people and women with great effort and struggle, resonate as the slogan of freedom not only in the Middle East but all over the world."

The statement underlined that "although 8 years have passed, ISIS-derived gangs fed and flourished by regional powers are roaming in Afrin today. Threats against the peoples of Kobanê and North East Syria continue. In Iran, attacks are carried out with the methods of ISIS against the peoples and women who want freedom. With the Kobanê Conspiracy Case, not only our party is targeted, but also all segments who want freedom are threatened."

The statement said: "We celebrate World Kobanê Day on its 8th anniversary. We salute the torch of resistance that pierces the darkness of ISIS and illuminates the future, and the internationalist solidarity spirit of the peoples of the world."
