HDP's Kaya: Armenians in Istanbul are threatened and attacked

The houses of Armenian citizens continued to be marked in Samatya and life safety in the neighborhood is in danger.

HDP Istanbul MP Hüda Kaya underlined the threats issued against the Armenians in Istanbul last week and warned about their safety in Samatya.

HDP deputy Hüda Kaya asked a parliamentary question to Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu.

Kaya recalled how “in the last week, we have witnessed yet another attack on an Armenian citizen whose house was previously marked in Samatya, in the neighborough of Fatih in Istanbul.”

The fact that “verbal statements and written threats have been issued - said Kaya - raises the concerns of the local people.”

After this attack, added Kaya, “the houses of Armenian citizens continued to be marked in Samatya and life safety in the neighborhood is in danger ”.

Kaya asked whether there was any investigation undergoing to find out the attackers, what preventive measures were taken and what was done to ensure the safety of the citizens and pointed out the role of the humiliating and marginalizing language used by the government against minorities.
