HDP (Peoples' Democratic Congress) Co-chairs Sebahat Tuncel and Ertuğrul Kürkçü paid tribute to Nelson Mandela, saying: "Although Madiba has passed away, his struggle for freedom and equality will continue to nourish the hopes and enlighten the path of the peoples of Turkey and Kurdistan."

In their message of condolence Sebahat Tuncel and Ertuğrul Kürkçü expressed their sorrow, adding: "Nelson Mandela was an inspiration to everyone with his principled, determined struggle against the apartheid regime and the architect of peace."

"We offer our sincere condolences to his family, the people of South Africa and all the peoples of the world".

BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) Co-chairs Gültan Kışanak ve Selahattin Demirtaş also issued a message of condolence on the passing of Nelson Mandela. They expressed their deep sadness at the death of Nelson Mandela, saying: "The memory of comrade Madiba's epic struggle against discrimination and exploitation will live on in the freedom struggle all over the world, as it will in the honourable struggle of the Kurds".
