HDP members attacked amid irregularities during voting

Voting for presidential and parliamentary elections continues.

Reports have started to come of violations and irregularities as voting for presidential and parliamentary elections began in Turkey earlier Sunday morning. While HDP members were attacked, cars without license plates on and torn ballot bags have been observed. Schools serve as polling stations.

Irregularites have been recorded in Istanbul, Ankara and Denizli provinces soon after the voting began at 08:00 this morning.

Some of the violations and irregularities are as follows;

Cars without license plates on have been observed at the yard of Demirkapı Neighborhood Hasan Kağınıcı Primary School in Istanbul.

July 15 (date of the failed coup attempt) images were hanged on some schools, facing opposition from lawyers on the grounds that the images represent a party, referring to AKP.

At the Zeytinburnu Kazliceşme Abay Imam Hatip (Islamic Divinity) Primary School in Istanbul, a mob of some 50 people attacked HDP members. The battered HDP members were taken to healthcare centers and lawyers were informed about the incident.

Two persons cast their votes at the ballot box no 2425 although their names were not on the list of the electorates registered there, at Sokullu Mehmet Paşa Anatolian High School in Çankaya, Ankara.

In Merkezefendi district of Denizli, the ballot paper bags held at Nevzat Erten Anatolian High School and those to be sent to 12 other schools were seen to be torn, while the prepackages of envelopes and ballot papers were already open.

HDP and CHP officials noticed the situation and informed the authorities. The torn bags were then seized by ballot officers and registered by lawyers to be submitted to the Supreme Election Board (YSK).

Lawyers have warned for election security by the people and ballot officers.
