HDP MP Uca and MSF delegation visit Êzidî hunger strikers in Strasbourg

The indefinite-irreversible hunger strike in Strasbourg, demanding that the isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan be lifted and status of Shengal be recognized, continues in its 15th day.

The indefinite-irreversible hunger strike in Strasbourg, launched by Shengal Diaspora Assembly members demanding that the isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan be lifted and status of Shengal be recognized, continues in its 15th day.

The hunger strike was launched by five administrators of Shengal Diaspora Assembly -Fikret İgrek, Peşimam Ekrem Deniz, Bozo Bacini, Bedirxan Kahraman and Beşir Ezidi - in the La Trés-Sainte-Trinité Church in Esplanade on August 23.

HDP's (People's Democratic Party) Êzidî MP Feleknas Uca and NAV-DEM (Democratic Kurdish Society Center in Germany) co-chair Bahattin Doğan have paid a visit to the hunger strikers today.

Feleknas Uca and the other visitors described the hunger strike as a historic action, stating that Êzidîs have taken a major step and at the same time led the hunger strike started in Amed yesterday. Uca said their support for the hunger strikers will continue.

NAV-DEM co-chair Bahattin Doğan also stressed that they will make further efforts to support the strikers.

A delegation from members of the Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has also visited the hunger strikers today and checked their state of health.

Participants of the hunger strike emphasised that they will refuse to get any humane and medical support until their demands are met.

Shengal Diaspora Assembly members were also visited by a number of Kurds today, and they received a video message from the hunger strikers in Amed.

A group of Kurdish women have joined the hunger strike alternately in solidarity with the participants and their demands.
