HDP Muş MP Koçyiğit visited hunger strikers in Strasbourg

The hunger strike resistance launched by HDP Hakkari MP Leyla Güven on 7 November was joined by thousands of prisoners and dozens of activists around the world.

The 14 Kurdish activists in Strasbourg have reached day 135 of their fast demanding the end of isolation against Abdullah Öcalan.

HDK spokesperson and HDP Muş MP Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit visited the 14 activists on Monday. 

Koçyiğit was able to see and converse with the activists for a short time and was updated about their situation. 

After the visit, Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit made a brief statement. She reminded that the hunger strike resistance was launched by HDP Hakkari MP Leyla Güven on 7 November and was joined by thousands of prisoners and dozens of activists around the world. They all demand the end of isolation against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Koçyiğit underlined that it is a right of every prisoner to receive visits by his lawyer and family. A right, she added, established by Turkey's own laws as well as international agreements.

Koçyiğit said that the hunger strikers are at a critical stage and added that everyone should take his part in the resistance underlining that isolation is a crime against humanity. 

Koçyiğit said that everyone should play their part and break the silence to prevent any death.
