In the Turkish city of Izmir, Arife Çınar, a member of the party council of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), was arrested last night. Çınar was in the district of Menemen on an election campaign when she was stopped by the police and taken into custody.

It is said that an arrest warrant has been issued against the politician. Possible reasons are not yet known.
