The 'Vigil of Conscience and Justice' staged by the HDP in Yoğurtçu Park in Istanbul has welcomed a series of visits by organisations and associations in its fourth day.

The 'Vigil of Conscience and Justice' staged by the HDP in Yoğurtçu Park in Istanbul has welcomed a series of visits by organisations and associations in its fourth day. The whole logistics for the 'Vigil of Conscience and Justice' in regard to food, coordination of visitors and marches are taken care of by the HDP institutions of Kadiköy.

Last night, the HDP members and parliamentarians on vigil spent their time with discussions on daily and political topics and were protected by the ‘Left Open’ fans of the football team Fenerbahçe that kept guard to watch over the park of the vigil, to prevent any possible attacks of fascists on the vigil-activists which could be undertaken on the pretext of a football match that took place in Kadiköy between Fenerbahçe and Sturm Graz in Şükrü Saraçoğlu stadium.

Throughout Firday, the Vigil welcomed a long series of visits by representatives from Bingöl’s associations, HDK (Peoples’ Democratic Congress), ÖDP (Freedom and Solidarity Party), Alevi Associations, CHP Ataşehir district branch, DİSK (Confederation of Revolutionary Trade Unions), KESK (Confederation of Public Workers’ Unions), TMMOB (Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects), TBB (Turkish Doctors' Union), İHD (Human Rights Association) and Initiative of Families of Suruç Martyrs.

The representatives of DİSK, KESK, TMMOB and TTB marched from Kadiköy Boğa to Yoğurtçu Park where they made statements in support of the vigil.

Speaking here, İHD Co-chair Eren Keskin said the following: "This is the first time that we find ourselves in such a situation. The society is oppressed. However, we managed to get over all difficulties with our head held high up until today. Courage is important. They claim the era of 'White Toros' abductions and murders is over, but what we live through is the era of Süleyman Soylu whom Mehmet Agar called his 'child'."

The İHD visit was followed by that of ÖDP (Freedom and Solidarity Party). Speaking on behalf of the party group, ÖDP Central Executive Board member Hayri Kozanoğlu put emphasis on the importance of being united, stressing that “resisting is a right”. Kozanoğlu said they attach great importance to HDP’s action, and remarked that they will continue to support the Conscience and Justice Vigil.

Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK) Co-spokespersons Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit and Onur Hamzaoğlu also visited the vigil and held speeches.

Koçyiğit spoke first and stated that the Conscience and Justice Vigil takes in an important place in the current political state of affairs in the country, and said: "The government of AKP thrusts Turkey into a deepening crisis. They pull the peoples in Turkey towards a stiff fascism. This action is one which addresses the people's conscience, thus participation in this resistance means to stand up against fascism and oppression."

Speaking after, Co-spokesperson Onur Hamzaoğlu said: "We see that the fear they have tried to create through massacres will not be able to resist against resistance. These activities of vigil and resistance embrace all the peoples in Turkey and should therefore be strengthened.”

The vigil was also visited by the Initiative of Families of Suruç Martyrs, which was formed two years ago in demand of justice for their children killed in the Suruç massacre.

A speech was held on behalf of the families by Murat Budak, father of Vedat Budak who is one of the youths killed in Suruç. Murat Budak said the following: "We salute the co-presidents, mayors, administrators, survivors of the Suruç massacre, Nuriye and Semih, and all the prisoners of freedom that are held captive. Despite having been through massacres across Kurdistan and Turkey, we will continue our struggle, just like we do here today, in order to bring justice and peace to the country. We are giving a struggle for justice for 24 months now and and we will continue it until justice is done.”

Kurdish singer Rojda paid also a visit to the vigil and sang in solidarity with the vigil’s participants.
