HDP’s (Peoples' Democratic Party) hostage Presidential Candidate Selahattin Demirtaş issued a statement over his Twitter account today on his unlawful arrest. Demirtaş pointed out that he is on remand due to the summons and forged evidence prepared by a FETÖ (Fethullah Terrorist Organisation) prosecutor, and shared the notice sent by the prosecution.

“ALL TURNED OUT TO BE FORGED”

The messages Demirtaş shared are as follows: “All the alleged evidence used to excuse my arrest have turned out to be forged, all of them have been made up by FETÖ prosecutors. But everybody still plays 3 monkeys, not seeing, not hearing, not speaking.

For example, current prosecutors included the testimony of the so-called secret witness named MERCEK (“LENS”) who was invented by the Cemaat prosecutors (who are under arrest right now themselves) in 2012 in my file, just so I would be arrested.

But the truth came out when the court I am on trial in requested all testimony by this secret witness MERCEK from the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. The same prosecutor’s office that included the forged FETÖ evidence in my file to have me arrested responded to the request by saying, “There is no such secret witness testimony on record.” Wasn’t the claim that the cases that targeted people with made up FETÖ evidence were being dismissed? I’m sorry to point this out, but I am still on remand with summons and forged evidence prepared separately by 12 arrested FETÖ prosecutors.

And, there are no investigations or cases against me for inciting violence or instigating criminal activity due to October 6-8 incidents.

Because in the prosecution’s investigation, they couldn’t find a single call or statement by me for October 6-8. They couldn’t find it, because that doesn’t exist. These allegations aim to slander me in politics. I am not on trial for October 6-8, and am not on remand for any such accusation. The case is against our Party Central Executive Committee for instigating unauthorized demonstrations. There is not even an allegation that we incited the events. This fact has fully come to light in the judicial process.

But there have been so many lies and smear campaigns on ‘Demirtaş’s call for Kobanê’ that the public actually has been made to believe I made such calls. Alas, I have not.

I have made three calls on October 7, 8 and 9, all calling for a stop to violence and provocations. The campaign against myself unfortunately aims to erode a political rival and is one of the greatest smear campaigns of all time. These are the whole of the facts.”
