HDP Van new deputies talked about the results

Bedia Özgökçe Ertan and Tayyip Temel: despite the difficulties the HDP is the first party

HDP newly elected Van deputies Bedia Özgökçe Ertan and Tayyip Temel talked to ANF about the elections in their province and said the clear winner is the HDP.

In Van despite perhaps the heaviest repression exercised thanks to the State of Emergency (OHAL) elections were carried out in a very heavy environment.

Yet, despite this, around 82% of the people voted in the city. According to unofficial results, the HDP in Van got 59.32 percent of the votes and the HDP presidential candidate, Selahattin Demirtas got 58.38 percent of the votes.

HDP Van MP, Bedia Özgökçe Ertan, said that clearly the HDP was the winner of these elections despite the repression and attacks we were subjected to.
Özgökçe Ertan continued: "We have overcome the threshold which is, I believe, the highest in the world."

The newly elected MP added: "They tried to break the will of the Kurdish people. We answered them with democracy by overcoming the threshold. People stated clearly that they believe the HDP can bring the solution to the Kurdish question. We will continue this struggle. The Kurdish question is there and keeps waiting for a solution."

The AKP tried hard to keep the HDP under the threshold and failed

HDP Van deputy Tayip Temel reminded the difficult and unfair conditions in which the HDP had to carry out its election campaign. Yet, he said: "In Van I actually managed to open the election office after a thousand difficulties and obstacles. We had many pressure in Van. Despite this, the HDP became the first party".

Temel also pointed out that "some 100,000 voters could not go to the polls. We were complaining about this. This is our electorate. We have exposed a lot of irregularities. The lack of 4 points is a situation that needs to be taken seriously and this situation has caused the loss of 1 proxy. We stand on it. "
