Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Central Executive Committee (MYK) issued a statement on the closures of free press organizations and the dismissal of 10 thousand state employees after the recent emergency decrees, and said "10 thousand 159 teachers, academics and public employees including our Deputy Co-President Sezai Temelli and Assembly advisors have been dismissed without a court decision."
'ONE-PARTY AND ONE-MAN STATE IS SAUGHT AFTER'
In its statement, HDP recalled that free press organizations including DİHA and JINHA have been closed, the decision to seize the properties of the municipalities with appointed trustees has been made and the university presidential elections have been removed recently. HDP described these policies as attacks on justice, and the prosecution of individuals without due process and the closure of Kurdish media are the latest steps of Erdoğan’s attempts to establish a one-party and one-man state.
HDP said that there is nothing legal or free about the current state of emergency because recent developments defy basic universal human rights, the European Convention on Human Rights and United Nations Treaties. HDP emphasized that Erdoğan was using the state of emergency in order to establish its one-man rule, and threatening the Turkish society with chaos if his presidential system is not approved or obeyed.
'IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO RESIST'
HDP condemned Erdoğan’s labeling of the opposition as enemies, and underlined that they would not obey Erdoğan even if he does his worst evil. HDP said that Kurdish people and political movement, and the forces of democracy and peace in Turkey, would not kneel before Erdoğan, and described the resistance against the state of emergency and the defense of democracy as their most important responsibility.
