Hundreds of thousands of people have already gathered in the Newroz area in Diyarbakır since last night for what will no doubt be a historic meeting. Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan's road map for a solution to the Kurdish question will be announced to the public and the world today. The message by Öcalan will include military and political aspects deemed necessary to solve the Kurdish question.

On the stage a huge photo of the Kurdish leader, something unthinkable of only a few months ago.

People are dressed in traditional clothes, chanting slogans, mainly "Bijî Serok Apo" [Long Live Apo], Biji Newroz [Long Live Newroz] and "Freedom for Öcalan, status for Kurdistan". Students, workers, women, children, youngsters and elders are all reaching the Newroz area from all districts and towns around Diyarbakır.

The meeting area is covered with red, greeen and yellow flags. The demonstration is expected to be joined by two million people.

Police presence is quite heavy in the city.
