HPG: Fifty four soldiers died in Beytüþþebap -UPDATE

In a statement on simultaneous guerrilla actions in Þýrnak’s (Þirnex) Beytüþþebap (Elkê) town on 2 September, People’s Defense Forces Press Office HPG-BIM reported that 54 soldiers and policemen were killed and over 50 others were wounded in expansive guerrilla actions in the town last Sunday.

The HPG statement underlined that a “revolutionary operation” has been launched in Beytüþþebap, and detailed the operation at around 22:00 local time on Sunday; “Our forces targeted and took the Bayrak, Bêboskê and Çeper military bases, as well as all buildings and security spots of police and special operation teams and all other state buildings.”

HPG-BIM stated that guerrillas took all hills around the town and planted HPG flags on these, adding that all ways around the town of Beytüþþebap have been under the control of HPG forces since the beginning of the “revolutionary operation”.

The statement noted “The Governor’s office in the town was also seized and searched in detail on Sunday when also a bridge between Beyüþþebap and Þýrnak was blown up by HPG guerrillas who have been making road controls in the area since the operation.”

According to the HPG statement, HPG guerrillas shot down a skorsky helicopter and damaged two others in an attack during the delivery of dead soldiers from the clashes area early on 3 September morning.

HPG-BIM further said that the Turkish military, unable to make a move on land, is bombing at randoms around the town.

HPG noted that four guerrillas lost their life in clashes and that detailed information about the casualties will be shared with the public soon.
