The hunger strike that started in the refugee camp in Lavrio, Greece to support the ongoing hunger strikes in Turkey’s prisons that demand the freedom of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and an end to the increasing violations of rights in prisons, has entered its 36th day.
The 8th group took over the hunger strike today. One of the activists who joined the action with a ceremony held in the camp yard, Fırat Serhat, stressed that their aim is the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan and political prisoners.
Serhat said; "The hunger strikes of political prisoners in Kurdistan prisons has been going on. These hunger strike actions will definitely yield results. We are also carrying out our action with the same determination. We will continue our action until we get results."
The Revolutionary Youth Movement (TCŞ-Tevgera Ciwanên Şoreşger), the Kurdish Women's Movement in Europe (Tevgera Jinên Kurdistan a Ewropa) and the Navenda Çanda Kurdistan (Kurdish Cultural Center) are leading the hunger strike that started on January 4 and continues in groups of 8 who participate in the action for 5 alternating days.
