The hunger strike carried out by Kurdish activists in Strasbourg has reached day 7.

The hunger strikers demand an end to the isolation regime imposed on People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and were visited on Sunday by representatives of many institutions and people from Saarbrucken, Cologne, Frankfurt and Bonn.

PJAK, Zagros Platform and the Rojhilat Peoples' Platform representatives saluted the activists and wished them success.

Speaking on behalf of PJAK, Ibrahim Alipur, said: “As institutions from Rojhilat we came to visit our friends on a hunger strike today to break the isolation imposed on Leader Apo. He has been in isolation for 20 years. In order for Kurds everywhere to be able to live in a democratic way, it is important to implement projects envisaged by Leader Apo. This action is very important for all peoples of the Middle East.”

Nadir Cemaati of the Rojhilat People's Platform said he came to offer solidarity to the hunger strikers.

Speaking on behalf of the Zagros Platform, Cihanbexş Rüstemi said: “We have no news of President Öcalan for many years. Heavy isolation is imposed on him. This is a major human rights violation. If we have rights today, we owe him. For this reason, we salute the hunger strike activists here and wish them success in their resistance.”

Hemcet Kerimi, part of the Rojhilat delegation, said that they were concerned about the situation of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

CPT and Council of Europe should act

“We wish success to our friends taking part in this action”, said Bexir İbrahim, Co-Chair of the People's Assembly of Saarbrucken.

He spoke on behalf of dozens of activists who came to Strasbourg. “We came here with dozens of cars from Saarbrucken. Our friends here have put their bodies to protect the honor of the Kurdish people. The CPT and the Council of Europe should also fulfill their responsibilities and go to the island of Imrali.”

We must end isolation

Fatma Bozkurt from the People's Assembly of Saarbrücken said: “We are here for our leader. The pressures have increased and our MPs have been unjustly arrested. They burned villages, demolished houses, plundered Kurdistan. If Erdoğan were not backed by the State, he would not act so freely. The world supports him. We speak to the world from here. Withdraw your support. ‘I will occupy Northern and Eastern Syria’, says Erdoğan. Why? You need to prevent this. This is why we must end the isolation on our leader.”
