Hunger striker Cinar’s health deteriorates

Health of writer Ilhami Cinar, political prisoner in the Sakran Prison who is on an indefinite nonalternating hunger strike against the isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan, continues to deteriorate.

Writer Ilhami Cinar is imprisoned in the Sakran Type T Closed Prison No.1 in Izmir’s Aliaga district.

Cinar has been on a hunger strike since January 5. His aunt Havide Bayram visited him last week and said Cinar’s health is deteriorating.

Bayram said Cinar was able to come to the visitation room with help from other prisoners and that he lost a total of 11.5 kilos.

Bayram said: “His blood pressure drops constantly. He has trouble seeing. His right eye is almost fully blind. Other prisoners in his ward cover the lights with newspaper so they don’t hurt his eyes. His health deteriorates every day. Despite his situation, Ilhami is determined to continue with his protest.”
