Political prisoner Ümit Aslan who has been conducting a hunger strike since 4 November was hospitalized last night due to gastric bleeding at around 03:00 local time.
Aslan, 32, who has been on fast in Diyarbakýr D Type Prison was transferred to Dicle University Hospital following immediate treatment at Training and Research Hospital. Aslan is reportedly being kept under observation.
The inmate is reported to have undergone a liver transplant two years ago.
The hunger strike which is currently joined by ten thousand Kurdish prisoners has entered the 67th day. Prisoners on fast demand the right to defense in their mother tongue and the ending of solitary confinement of Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) Leader Abdullah Öcalan.
