Hunger striker in Toronto hospitalized and refused treatment

Yusuf Iba, who has been on hunger strike in Toronto for 40 days, has been hospitalized again.

Yusuf Iba from North Kurdistan, who lives in Toronto city of Canada, is on the 40th day of his indefinite hunger strike he started to be a part of the hunger strike resistance initiated by DTK Co-chair and HDP MP Leyla Güven, calling for an end to the isolation regime imposed on Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

The Kurdish activist was hospitalized today after experiencing a heart spam, headache, vomiting and trouble breathing.

Fire crew and police accompanied an ambulance that came to the Kurdish Society Centre and took Iba to hospital.

Refusing to be treated, Iba pointed to the CPT’s hypocrisy and failure to do its job. He said he would refuse treatment and continue his fast as long as the isolation remained in place.

Iba had been hospitalized 4 times before, refusing treatment and continuing his fast in each case.
