Hunger striker Kobanê: Honoured to die in such a way

Cemal Kobanê joined the hunger strike resistance demanding the end of isolation against the Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan. On Monday he was taken to hospital after feeling ill. 

Cemal Kobanê, who continues his hunger strike in Berlin with three activists and was taken to hospital on Monday, was discharged after he refused treatment.

"I would be honored of such a death," Kobanê said.

An ambulance and an emergency doctor had been called for Kobanê who had difficulty in breathing and had heart spasm. Kobanê had to wear an oxygen mask, was then taken to hospital and was discharged in the evening hours.

The Kurdish activist, who decided to continue hunger strike with other activists at NAV-DEM premises in Berlin, made a call on the Kurdistan people, especially Rojava people through ANF. The activist who is from the city of Kobanê in Rojava said: “Be proud of a possible martyrdom. I would be honored to die such a death.”

Kobanê stated that he refused to be given treatment. “Although I have difficulty breathing, I refused any intervention without hesitation. I was feeling bad in those moments, I said to myself: ‘If death is coming, death can find me like this.”

Kobanê said he wants the people of Kurdistan to take more actions. “Isolation against our President can only be ended with the resistance of the people. It is everybody’s duty to act and do their part.”

Cemal Kobanê reminded that today, Tuesday, the PKK and PJAK prisoners will turn their hunger strike into death fast.

Cemal Kobanê, who lives with his family in Kassel, went on an indefinite hunger strike 91 days ago together with Ömer Bağdur. Mele Mustafa Tuzak is on his 107th day of fast while Şiyar Xelil is on his 94th day.
