Hunger striker's mum: They are resisting for a just demand

Suleyman Acun is one of seven children of a family who had to migrate to Adana from Dargeçit, Mardin, because of the state's oppression in the '90s. 

Suleyman Acun is one of the prisoners on hunger strike. He said: “If our action is echoed outside, it will succeed.”

His mother, Mahbube Acun said: “We can’t eat. Isolation should be ended and the hunger strike stopped.”

Suleyman Acun is 22 and has been on hunger strike in Izmir T-Type Closed Prison since 1 March, demanding the end of isolation against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Mahbube Acun stated that her son was always thoughtful and said that he was the same during his childhood and youth, and that her son was involved in youth work from the age of 15.

We are resisting for a just demand

Mahbube Acun said that one of her son's dreams, is to return to their hometown. “My son was also very attached to his land. He had a great admiration for Mardin, he loves reading about Kurdish history, the streets of his hometown.”

Suleyman Acun has been in prison for 3 years and he said to his family at the last visit: “We are resisting for a just demand. We will fight until our demand is met. You should raise our voice outside. Our action will succeed if it is echoed outside.”

Mahbube Acun confirmed that her son ed that her hunger strike son and other prisoners had lost too much weight and that she could barely stand up. Indeki Still, the prisoners are high. We're like a hunger strike. Every mouth we eat is in our throat. This isolation should be lifted and hunger strikes must end.
