Hunger strikers in Sweden hold protest in Foreign Ministry

Kurdish citizens who launched a hunger strike in Stockholm, Sweden yesterday demanding an end to the isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan held a protest today in front of Sweden’s Foreign Ministry.
Activists held a banner that read “Solidarity with hunger strikers, End the isolation - CPT take action” and signs with HDP’s logo on them as they went to the Foreign Ministry to demand an audience with authorities.
Two officials from the Foreign Ministry received the protesters and shook hands with all hunger strikers one by one. The officials said they are concerned for the developments in Turkey and that they are monitoring the hunger strikers’ protest closely.
Amara Kurdish Women’s Assembly Executive Council Member Nujeen Ahmed spoke in the name of the activists about the isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan by the Turkish state.
Ahmed said Leyla Guven, who has been on a hunger strike since November 7, and other hunger strikers are fighting for their lives and added that Sweden should take action to end the isolation and engage the European Union.
HUNGER STRIKES RESONATE WITH THE PEOPLE IN EUROPE
Solidarity with Leyla Guven and Hunger Strikers Platform Spokesperson Latife Fegan spoke to the ANF and said the hunger strikes Leyla Guven and prisoners launched in Turkey against the isolation have resonated with the people in Europe.
Fegan stressed that the hunger strikers are important for the democratization of Turkey and added: “Hunger strikers have become the representatives of the struggle for freedom and democracy in Turkey. Thousands of people in prisons and even abroad have put their bodies, their lives on the line to break the unimaginable isolation imposed upon Ocalan.”
Fegan pointed out that the hunger strikes have spread and become a movement and added that they will be taking initiatives to urge the Swedish public and politicians into action in the coming days.

Hunger striker Gaffur Muhammedi from Rojhilat pointed to the significance of Abdullah Ocalan for all peoples of the Middle East and said they are determined to fight until the end to end the isolation imposed upon Ocalan.
