“I am Afrin” written over German Prime Ministry

The slogan “I am Afrin” (“Je suis Afrin”) was projected onto the Prime Ministry building in Germany to protest the Turkish state’s massacres and attacks against Afrin.

The Pixelhelper art collective carried out an unusual protest in Berlin last night in support of the city of Afrin in Western Kurdistan where people resist the Turkish army and their gangs.

The activist-artists projected the slogan “Je suis Afrin” (“I am Afrin”) onto the Prime Ministry building next to the Federal Parliament during the night.

The artists also projected the words, “Erdogans Teehaus” (“Erdoğan’s Tea House”) to draw attention to German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel pouring tea for his Turkish counterpart Çavuşoğlu. A cartoon of Gabriel pouring tea accompanied the writing.

Artists said in a statement about the protest that; “Pressure must be put on Erdoğan and he must be told to stop for a better world and humanity”.

Pixelhelper group said they will continue with their actions in other capital cities of Europe to make the scream of Afrin heard by the world.

French word “Je suis” (I am) became a symbol for defenders of freedom of thought after the massacre against satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo staff in French capital Paris on January 7, 2015.
