Human Rights Association (IHD) Amed Branch held a pres conference on the violations of children's rights registered in the Kurdish region to mark Universal Children's Day on November 20.
IHD stated that 575 children have lost their life in the conflict environment since 1988, and 205 children have been murdered in the last twelve years since the AKP came to the power.
Four children lost their life as a result of mine explosions in the first ten months of 2013, IHD report said and noted that four children suspiciously died in the same period during which also twelve children committed suicide and five others were murdered as a result of domestic and social violence. According to the figures, 48 children were subject to violence, rape and molestation by family members and security forces.
The report put emphasis on the ongoing problems related with child brides, bride exchange and betrothal in the cradle and criticized officials for failing to take protective measures to come up with a solution to the mentioned issues.
IHD urged Turkey to abide by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Children which Turkey became a party to in 1995.
