IHD call for the release of CHP deputy
Non-governmental organizations in Diyarbakýr held a press conference to address the situation of Republican People’s Party (CHP) Dersim deputy Hüseyin Aygün who has been detained by Kurdish guerrillas on 12 August.
NGOs demanded the immediate release of CHP deputy and the end of military operations in Dersim area which put Aygün’s safety at risk.
Speaking at the press conference, Human Rights Association (IHD) Diyarbakýr Branch Chair Raci Bilici pointed out that representatives of NGOs are ready to play their role in the release of CHP deputy and other people who were previously detained by HPG (People’s Defense Forces) guerrillas.
Bilici reminded of Diyarbakýr NGOs and IHD’s earlier calls and attempts to reclaim PKK detainees and underlined that they will never accept anybody to be deprived of his/her freedom.
